Whatever your business challenges are at the moment, the most hurdles being faced this weekend are by 40 horses in the United Kingdom.
First run in 1839, The Grand National is a handicap steeplechase over 4 miles with horses jumping 30 fences over two laps. It is the most valuable jump race in Europe, with a prize fund of £1 million and it is held annually at the picturesque Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool, England.
It has become known as “the ultimate test of horse and rider”.
With such a large prize up for grabs there is little room for error. The analogy to international business expansion is not dissimilar. A refined business model and the perfect candidate to take your business model abroad is not enough to ensure success. Perhaps there are not specifically 30 hurdles for your business to jump over at the initial stages but fall over any of the first 4 and this may be enough to set you on the path to failure.
Hurdle 1: Compliant country employment contract
Hurdle 2: Technical knowledge of country payroll and HR processes
Hurdle 3: Cost effective business insurances such as Professional Indemnity, Public Liability and Workers Compensation
Hurdle 4: Employee registration with the relevant in country statutory authorities
CPM People have been operating an outsourced co-employment service for over 15 years and we can easily name another 20 hurdles for you to consider based on our experience. However, as the Employer of Record, they become our hurdles and not yours. In 2016, the race was won by “Rule The World”, obviously a racing syndicate with similar ambitions to most businesses.
